今日は、ジュエリーブランドであるtaupe D.Motoikeを紹介させていただきます。

 

 

純金である24Kと、純銀のSV999の素材をメインとして使用し、全てを本池大介さん自身がアトリエで製作するジュエリーブランドです。

 

 

本池さんは、ご自身の名前である”本池 大介”という名義で”漆皮”作品をつくりあげる作家活動も行なっています。

 

 

また、本池さんのお父さんは、世界的にも珍しい革人形師である本池秀夫さん。

 

2016年には、日本で革工芸で初めての県指定の無形文化財保持者に認定され、更には、文部科学大臣賞をも受賞された方。

 

 

お父さんが世界的な革人形師だったこともあり、生まれながらにして、身近に革が存在し、幼少期から遊びの感覚で革に触れることが当たり前だったそうです。

 

そして、家業として革職人になるべく、幼い頃からアトリエに入り、厳しい修行時代を過ごしたと言います。

 

 

日々、革に向き合い、素材の持つ可能性を探究し続ける中で、20歳からは、”革職人”としてだけではなく、”金や銀”などの貴金属を用いたものづくりを習得するために、イタリアのフィレンツェでジュエラーとして修行を積んだそうです。

 

当時は、革細工師がつくるジュエリーとは何か。ということに向き合いながら、ものづくりに没頭をされたと言います。

 

 

そして、帰国後は20年以上にわたって家業であるブランドのクラフツマンとしての功績をあげ、2022年からはtaupe D.Motoikeを立ち上げました。

 

 

 

 

 

 

taupe D.Motoikeのコレクションは、先述の通り、純金である24Kや純銀のSV999を使用します。

 

これまであらゆる天然素材や貴金属に向き合ってきた経験から、本池さんが自らの手を駆使してつくりあげるジュエリーは、主張のあるモチーフは存在しません。

 

あるのは、素材そのものが持つ静かで確かな重みと、手の感覚に忠実な形。

 

 

地金のわずかな凹凸や、揺らめくような面の動きが、地金の”素の表情”を引き出しています。

 

 

それは、素材そのものを最大限に活かし、そこに呼応するように、つくり手としての研ぎ澄まされた感覚が反映されたジュエリーです。

 

 

弊社のジュエリーブランドのセールスを全て行なう椎木は、taupe D.Motoikeは、「デザインの質感、仕上がり、そして”本池 大介”という作家の生き方までが一つに繋がっていると思う。 だから、身に着けると感動する。」と言います。

 

 

多くの種類が存在するブランドではありませんが、例えるならば少数精鋭。

 

 

以下にそのコレクションを少し紹介させていただきます。

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

HARVEST CHAINという名の24Kハンドメイドチェーン。

 

大小様々な一コマが連なるチェーン。

 

 

本来このようなデザインのチェーンは、工業的に全く同じ大きさ、形状のものを連ねることで、均整の取れた一つのジュエリーとなるものだと思います。

 

 

しかし、taupe D.Motoikeでは、全てを本池さんが一コマずつ形成する。

 

 

その後、定められた長さになるよう、それぞれを繋ぎ合わせていくことで成すものです。

 

 

つまり、一コマごとに手作業で形を与え、繋ぐこの工程は、ハンドメイドジュエリーの中でも最も労力と時間とを要する方法の一つです。

 

 

その結果としてチェーンの全体像だけではなく、それを形成する一コマずつまで特別なものとして際立って感じられる。

 

 

更に、先述のように、主張のあるモチーフは付属しませんが、TバーとDリングの留め具まで手作業で製作し、ブランドのイニシャルを機能パーツとして解釈していることも非常にユニークなディテールだと思います。

 

 

24Kで作成される一つ一つのパーツは繊細で、表面を磨き切らないことで柔らかな光を持つ。

こちらは、DUOMO RINGというもの。

 

本池さん自身が20代の頃、ジュエラーとして修行を行なった地であるフィレンツェ。

 

その街のシンボルとして、「サンタ・マリア・デル・フィオーレ大聖堂」という教会が存在します。

 

一般的には、「ドゥオーモ」の名で知られる教会のクーポラというドームの形状をイメージした八角形のリング。

 

 

ジュエリーと向き合い、修行をした場所であり、その象徴として製作しているリングです。

 

 

いくつか幅がありますが、その幅によっては面ができ、純金へ光が沈み込む様子がとても美しく感じられます。

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

純金や純銀の地金そのものと、自然の質感やテクスチャーさえも活かしたもの。

 

 

一つ一つのジュエリーを形づくる全ての要素に本池さんが培ってきたもの、その製作に向けたものが潜在的に心に響くジュエリーなのかもしれません。

Today, I would like to introduce taupe D.Motoike, a jewelry brand that embodies quiet strength and material purity.

Each piece is handcrafted by Daisuke Motoike in his own atelier, using primarily 24K pure gold and SV999 pure silver—metals chosen for their unalloyed beauty and timeless presence.

Beyond jewelry, Motoike also creates art pieces under his own name, exploring a medium he calls Urushikawa—a distinctive fusion of lacquer and leather.

His father, Hideo Motoike, is a globally recognized leather doll artist—one of only a handful in the world.
In 2016, he became the first craftsman in Japan’s leatherwork field to be designated as a Prefectural Intangible Cultural Property Holder, and later received the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award.

Having grown up surrounded by leather and tools, Daisuke recalls that touching leather was simply part of play in his childhood.
He began training in his family’s atelier at a young age, devoting himself to the rigorous path of becoming a leather craftsman.

While he continued to explore the potential of natural materials through leather, his curiosity expanded.
At the age of twenty, he traveled to Florence, Italy, to study metalwork and jewelry-making. There, he immersed himself in a new craft—seeking to understand, in his own words, “what jewelry created by a leather artisan could be.”

After returning to Japan, Motoike spent more than two decades as a craftsman within his family’s brand before founding taupe D.Motoike in 2022.
The brand represents a culmination of his lifelong dialogue between material, hand, and form.

 

 

 

The taupe D.Motoike collection, as mentioned earlier, is crafted primarily from 24K pure gold and SV999 pure silver.

Drawing on decades of experience working with both natural and precious materials, Motoike creates jewelry that carries no overt motif or ornamentation.
What remains is the quiet, steady weight inherent in the metals themselves—forms that respond directly to the subtle movements of the hand.

Each surface bears minute irregularities, gentle shifts of light, and slight undulations that reveal the raw expression of the metal.
Every piece is an honest reflection of the material’s character, brought to life through the maker’s finely tuned sensibility.

Rather than a wide assortment, the brand focuses on a small, carefully honed selection—each piece distinct and complete on its own.

HARVEST CHAIN

The HARVEST CHAIN is a handcrafted 24K gold chain, composed of links that vary subtly in size and proportion.

Ordinarily, chains of this kind are produced industrially—each link identical in dimension and shape—resulting in a uniform, perfectly balanced finish.
At taupe D.Motoike, however, every single link is individually shaped by Daisuke Motoike himself.
Only after each link is formed does he connect them one by one, adjusting the length and rhythm by hand until the chain reaches its final, balanced state.

This process—hand-forming and joining every link—is among the most time-intensive and laborious methods in handcrafted jewelry.
Yet it is precisely this devotion that gives the chain its quiet distinction: not only as a whole, but in every single link that composes it.

As with the rest of the brand’s work, there are no ornamental motifs. Even the T-bar and D-ring clasp—referencing the initials of taupe D.Motoike—are made entirely by hand, transforming functional components into subtle design signatures.

Each 24K link is delicate and slightly irregular, its surface intentionally left unpolished to retain a gentle, diffused glow.
The faint shadows that play across the gold give the piece a sense of depth and living warmth—an expression of pure material, shaped through the memory of the hands.

This piece is called the DUOMO RING.

When Daisuke Motoike was in his twenties, he spent his formative years as a jeweler in Florence, Italy—a city whose spirit still lives in his work.
At its heart stands the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, known more commonly as Il Duomo, crowned by its iconic octagonal dome.

The ring takes its inspiration from that dome—the cupola—translating its monumental form into a refined, octagonal silhouette in pure gold.
It serves as both a tribute to the city where Motoike honed his craft and a quiet symbol of the discipline and devotion that shaped him.

The ring is available in several widths; as the surface broadens, it catches and softens the light differently.
In certain angles, the gold seems to absorb the light rather than reflect it—revealing the serene depth unique to pure gold.
