Bengt Paris, a brand with an atelier in Paris, is known for one standout feature: its front stitchwork.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s incredibly eye-catching, and upon closer inspection, you\u2019ll notice that even each individual stitch thread visible on the surface is uniquely distinctive. This is all crafted using a single sewing machine\u2014an impressive technique in itself.<\/p>\n

The various stitches featured on T-shirts and sweatshirts highlight not only the brand’s remarkable technique but also its exceptional sense of style.<\/p>\n

In that sense, the pieces could be considered artworks<\/em>, painted on the canvas of clothing. However, even putting that aspect aside\u2014the base garments themselves, such as the T-shirts and sweatshirts\u2014<\/p>\n

I personally believe they are of an exceptionally high standard as clothing.<\/p>\n

While many T-shirts and sweatshirts on the market are made using mass-produced, generic bodies, Bengt Paris designs, cuts, and sews each garment in its own atelier.<\/p>\n

Because of that, the individuality of each piece is strongly reflected in the clothing.<\/p>\n

From a general perspective, this might seem quite \u201cquirky,\u201d but it\u2019s a clear projection of the creator\u2019s aesthetic sensibility<\/em>.<\/p>\n

And I truly believe the quality of the final product is outstanding. I really love it.<\/p>\n

As mentioned earlier, one of the brand\u2019s biggest signatures is the stitchwork.<\/p>\n

Some pieces also feature artwork that is rendered through those stitches.<\/p>\n

I personally used to work with Bengt Paris during my time as a sales associate, and what I strongly felt back then was this: through its original techniques, the brand adds an emotional layer by making viewers smile and enjoy themselves.<\/p>\n

I felt that myself, and I could sense the same from the customers who saw the clothes.<\/p>\n

Today, I\u2019d like to give you a closer look at some of Bengt Paris\u2019s clothing.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

At bengt paris, various styles of stitching are used\u2014but there\u2019s one common thread that runs through all of them:<\/p>\n

Every stitch is sewn from the reverse side, and the sewing machine\u2019s thread tension is deliberately disrupted.<\/p>\n

If you look at the photo above, can you see the small \u201cknots\u201d or \u201cbumps\u201d protruding from the stitching?<\/p>\n

A sewing machine uses two threads\u2014an upper thread and a lower thread. Under normal circumstances, the stitches on the upper thread side (the visible outer side of a garment) appear neat and clean.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why, in standard garment construction, the upper thread is usually used on the exterior of the garment\u2014the side visible when worn.<\/p>\n

When the upper and lower threads are pulling against each other evenly and the stitch balance is appropriate for the fabric, we say the \u201cthread tension is properly set.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, bengt paris intentionally distorts this balance by adjusting the machine\u2019s settings and sewing from the underside. This results in a visual expression that cleverly subverts the natural movement of the thread\u2014bringing out a rich, expressive texture on the outer side.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s even more surprising is that, despite all this stitching, there is no puckering, wrinkling, or warping around the stitched areas. I find that truly impressive.<\/p>\n

Even though the base fabric used for the T-shirts is durable, the fact that no wrinkling occurs around the stitching clearly shows that each stitch is sewn with care and skill.<\/p>\n

The accuracy is so high that anyone can easily recognize the design created through the stitching.<\/p>\n

And the balance of that expression\u2014it\u2019s witty and wonderfully executed.<\/p>\n

If you look through bengt paris\u2019s previous creations, I think you\u2019ll agree: not only does the work avoid hurting anyone, it brings joy and amusement through its brilliant expression. And it\u2019s not just the result that\u2019s remarkable\u2014the method is, too.<\/p>\n

Take for example this famous stitchwork portrait of a woman.<\/p>\n

This is part of a series titled \u201cPixel\u201d.<\/p>\n

The image is made up of a jaw-dropping 469 small squares, each sewn individually by machine.<\/p>\n

When you think about how each square is machine-sewn by hand, the scale of the effort is almost unfathomable.<\/p>\n

And yet, it is precisely that devotion which makes the piece something only designer Jimmy Roux could have created.<\/p>\n

As I mentioned before, what\u2019s important is that it\u2019s not just about the stitchwork.<\/p>\n

He also designs the pattern, does the cutting, and sews the garment himself at the atelier. If he didn\u2019t construct the piece himself, it would be impossible to incorporate such an enormous number of stitches into the product.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why I also feel that the fabric and silhouette of bengt paris garments are of an extremely high level.<\/p>\n

When you lift the sleeve of a bengt paris T-shirt\u2014as shown in the photo\u2014the outer sleeve bends at a point that\u2019s surprisingly close to the center.<\/p>\n

In my understanding, a typical T-shirt, when treated the same way, usually folds much closer to the armhole.<\/p>\n

This means that for a T-shirt, the sleeve cap is quite high, and accordingly, the amount of ease built into the sleeve is substantial. As a result, when worn, the shoulder area has a sharp and refined appearance.<\/p>\n

Additionally, unlike most T-shirts, there\u2019s no fabric bunching around the underarm area.<\/p>\n

While the sizing is by no means loose, the absence of bunching creates a unique open space around the underarm, which gives the garment a clean, structured feeling when worn.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll likely notice this difference in comfort when wearing it.<\/p>\n

The fabric has a high density and a firm, self-supporting texture, which helps the brand\u2019s tailored silhouette stand out. The body of the garment is designed to contour away from the body, creating a clear outline that floats slightly off the skin.<\/p>\n

When it comes to sweatshirts and hoodies, unlike the T-shirts, the shoulder seams are dropped, and the fabric is very tightly knitted.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s almost no fuzziness to the surface, and the interior is not brushed.<\/p>\n

This allows the brand\u2019s pattern design to shine through more clearly.<\/p>\n

The sweatshirt fabric is tightly woven, with threads pulled taut to create a crisp, structured texture.<\/p>\n

Visually, this gives off an extremely neat and organized impression.<\/p>\n

Even the ribbing uses the same type of thread, and is characterized by its firmness.<\/p>\n

The slope from the neckline to the shoulder is quite steep, and this too contributes to the high sleeve cap.<\/p>\n

So again, when you lift the sleeve, it bends far from the armhole.<\/p>\n
